Jahrhunderts, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Bei der Betrachtung der Konfliktlinien in der Forschungsdiskussion der Hanseforschung der letzten Jahrzehnte hebt sich die Frage nach dem Wesen der Hanse besonders heraus. "Was war die Hanse?", so fragt Volker Henn in seiner Forschungsrückschau resümierend . Als lange Zeit hegemonial für die Hanseforschung galt das Diktum der 'Städtehanse', die sich in der Mitte des 14. Jahrhunderts aus der 'Kaufmannshanse' etabliert haben soll. Doch Zweifel am bündischen Charakter dieser 'Städtehanse' kulminieren in den sechziger Jahren in die These von der Hanse als 'Interessensgemeinschaft'. Kristallisationspunkt dieser Diskussionen war jeher die Bewertung der hansischen Konflikte mit Flandern, insbesondere mit Brügge, dem "Weltmarkt des Westens" . Im Jahre 1347 gab sich der Kontor zu Brügge die vielzitierte und beispielgebende 'Kontorordnung' und 1356 bestätigten die Hansestädte diese 'Kontorordnung' durch eine Gesandschaft. Dieser Vorgang wird gemeinhin als 'epochemachend' für den Übergang zur Städtehanse bewertet. Doch Grundlage dieser weitergehenden Interpretationen sollte eine genaue Betrachtung der hansisch-flandrischen Beziehungen sein, die 1358 in die Handelssperre gegen Flandern mün-deten. Als erhellend könnte sich hierbei ein Strukturvergleich erweisen, denn eben diese Handelssperre des Jahres 1358 fand ihre Nachahmung auf einem Hansetag zu Lübeck 1388. Die Hansestädte führten dort mit fast genau den gleichen Instrumenten wie dreissig Jahre zuvor, einen Boykott gegen Flandern durch, dessen Ergebnisse Philippe Dollinger als "letzten großen Sieg der Hanse" bezeichnet. Diese erstaunliche Kongruenz der Ereignisse gibt Anlass für eine Reihe von Fragen: Inwie-weit ähneln sich die Krisen, die zur Verhängung der Handelssperre führen
